Damoen Saduak & Takha Floating Market

Damoen Saduak (Day Floating Market)
There are so many floating markets throughout the entire country but I would say the most
popular one would be Damoen Saduak. Perhaps the more accurate way to
describe Damoen Saduak would be that is the most touristic one.
The canals are laden with canoes filled with fresh vegetables and fruits.
Many a times these canoes would compete with right of way with the long tail
boats that are also ferrying tourist to come here to catch a glimpse of daily life on the narrow canals.
You can find practically everything and anything under the sun in Damoean Saduak Market.
As the day builds to a frenzy so is the crowd at the market.
Using long poles as a means of sending the goods to the buyer is one of the methods used
in the floating market between vendors and buyers.
A tourist posing with a large Albino Python.
Remember that it is the very reason that we do not mind paying good money to
get a photo for our Album posing next to an endangered animal is precisely the very
reason people hunt them for this exploit. Join me today as a nature responsible traveler.
Stop supporting such tourist practice including so called Tiger Sanctuaries etc.
The above photos are a classic scenario of business in the exploitation of
endangered species for personal profit. ( I do not advocate this form of business and
personally feel these animals should be returned to the wild )
Tha Kha Floating Market ( Day Only )
Only a very few handful of tourist around is the local Tha kha Floating Market.
I love this market the best as they atmosphere shoutsauthenticity. Every thing
is also cheaper here like a bowl or Kueh Teow Ruea for just 15 bahts per bowl
and a whole ice chilled coconut for 15 baths. Will most definitely be back
if given a chance to spend more time absorbing in the local spirit.
You could still get a boat ride here in the canal for a couple of hundred bahts.
Did not do it this time but maybe the next time around. The market deserves
a little more of my attention for sure as I be back for the cheap coconuts.
Enjoying 20 baht a bowl boat noodles just like the locals have it.
Squatting Sitting on the ground under any possible shade young and old
sharing a bowl of delicious noodles for just 20 bahts per bowl.
Kai Bang Kung Fort and Banyan Tree Temple Amphawa
A unique temple which is still being largely visited byworshipersis the
Banyan Tree Temple in Amphawa. Almost devoured by the Banyan Tree,
In the same vicinity is also a once upon a time Naval Fort Kai Bang Kung.
This was once the stage for a fierce battle during the 18 century between
Siam and the Burmese Invaders. Kai Bang Kung never fell to the hands of
the invaders and was almost at the firm grip of the General Taksin who also later
became King of Siam.
