Yellowish houses that remember medieval times, narrow pavements, dirty archway just ahead. Sunny. Just met an old friend, he is lingering on the other side of the street. Some idle talk. Then I notice that between the pavements, instead of a carriageway a stream is flowing down this street ? clear and quite deep, with some water plants by the kerbs, and with a lot of small dark fishes swimming to and fro. Perhaps there should be some bigger fish, too, in such a stream; one could catch a bigger one by hands in such a narrow stream, but then again, preparing a raw fish is such a mess... ? I think out loud. And that fiend of mine replies from the other pavement: look deeper, here, where the water is less shallow. I take a more attentive look, and lo ? where I thought the bottom was, the stream is swarming with huge fish, all hovering, as by some strange agreement, across the street, in length reaching from kerb to kerb, lazily moving their fins and tails, twisting gently and glittering with their greenish scales in the sun. Those small fishes are apparently just swimming above their backs. They are not eels, nor they are salmon, they must be some strange huge roaches that they have here ? I think. Then the alarm clock wakes me up.
